《解説》

16. Yumi is older than Keiko.
      Keiko is ( younger )( than ) Yumi.

『比較は、as / than の前で事実を確認』
「Yuni is older」までで「ユミは年上だ」とわかりますね。
「Keiko is ( )」なら、「ケイコは年下だ」となるわけです。

次の書き換えもできますね。
= Keiko is not older than Yumi.
= Keiko is not as old as Yumi.

17. My bag isn’t as big as yours.
      Your bag is ( bigger )( than ) mine.

「My bag isn’t as big」までで「私のバッグは大きくない」とわかります。
「Your bag is ( )」なら、「あなたのバッグは大きい」となります。

18. Akiko runs faster than Mika. Mika runs faster than Mari.
      Akiko runs the ( fastest )( of ) the three.

「Akiko > Mika > Mari mod.fast」ということがわかります。
「Akiko runs the ( )」と「the」があるので「最上級」で表すことがわかります。

『of + 複数名詞、in + 単数名詞』を覚えておきましょう。

19. He won the ‘MVP’.
      He won the ‘( Most ) Valuable Player’.

『MVP = 最も価値がある選手(最優秀選手)』
= Most Valuable Player

20. Jiro started to play baseball when he was six years old.
      Jiro started ( playing ) baseball when he was six years old.

『目的語に、不定詞も動名詞も、どちらも取れて意味の差があまりない動詞』
「like, love, begin, start, etc」

『目的語に、不定詞も動名詞もとり、それぞれで意味の異なる動詞』
「remember, forget, etc」
