71. Yesterday I was very busy. So I couldn’t go out.
      Yesterday I was ( too ) busy to go out.

『so ～ that S can’t V … = too ～ to-V …』

Yesterday I was very busy so I couldn’t go out.
= Yesterday I was so busy that I couldn’t go out.
= Yesterday I was too busy to go out.

72. He said to me, “Open the window.”
      He told me ( to )( open ) the window.

『直接話法と間接話法』
“…”の中が命令文の場合には「tell+人+to-V …」で書き換える。
“…”の中が依頼文の場合には「ask+人+to-V …」で書き換えます。

73. Reading this book is interesting.
      ( It ) is interesting to read this book.

『仮主語の構文』
・主語が長い場合には、「仮主語 it」を立てて、長い主語を後ろで表すのですね。
・仮主語の真主語には、(1)不定詞 (2)動名詞 (3)that-節　が使えます。

74. It is very difficult to speak French.
      ( Speaking )( French ) is very difficult.

『仮主語の構文』
「73」で見たように、主語に立てる場合も３通り考えられます。

It is very difficult to speak French.
= To speak French is very difficult.
= Speaking French is very difficult.
= That we speak French is very difficult.

75. He is too young to go to school.
      He is ( so ) young that he ( can’t ) go to school.

『so ～ that S can’t V … = too ～ to-V …』

・この問題では現在時制ですが、過去時制の問題が多く出題されますので、時制には注意しましょう。
